Dali fused his interest in Catholicism, mathematics and science to create this new interpretation of an oft depicted subject. Levitating over a hypercube – a geometric multi-dimensional form – Christ has an almost athletic physique that bears no sign of torture. The artist wife, Gala, posses as a devotional figure witnessing Christ’s spiritual triumph over corporal harm.
